What is an implant?
This video which explains what an implant is, how it differs from conventional treatments such as a bridge or a denture, and how an implant treatment is carried out.
What is involved in having an implant?
The time frame from initial consultation to final implant crown fit should take approx. three to four months for a straightforward procedure. In planning your treatment you will need to have a 3D scan to assess your bone levels. If we find there has been some bone loss due to infection you may need to have some bone added, a ‘bone graft’. This is a relatively simple procedure and well worth it to get the best results. If you have good bone levels we can proceed straight to placement of the titanium implant. We then allow three months for integration of the implant with your jaw bone. The final phase is to fit the new tooth to the implant, i.e. the visible implant crown.
